Tiny places are “cozy,” expensive places are “a great value for the size,” and 7th floor walk ups mean “you’ll get plenty of exercise!” Total grabage. In your desperation, you may turn to the internet and start looking at craigslist apartments- but the meetings you set up through this exchange may turn out to be equally maddening. Brokers will bait and switch you; they will put up pics of one place, and then as soon as you come out to look at it, say “that unit was JUST rented, but let me show you this other one around the corner!” They have no shame and will gladly scam you to make a quick buck. Jerks!
